Player Insurance
As a member of SU Sport you are insured at all official SUSFC soccer events, whether they be pre-season trials, training sessions or competition games. You are also insured at match games by the league you play in (according to your squad). If you are seriously injured, you must report the injury. You should report any serious injury to SUSFC via your squad manager as soon as possible after the injury has occurred. If there is any possibility that significant medical attention was or will be required as a result of the injury, you should report the injury to SU Sport within 48 hours. In order to be eligible to make an insurance claim for any injury, you must typically report the injury, in writing, to the relevant insurer within a specified reporting period, typically 30 days from the date of injury, even if you have not finished receiving treatment for the injury. Usually, the insurer will provide you with a form for notifying it of the injury and a claims pack. When claiming compensation for an injury you should first claim through Medicare, then your personal private insurer (if you have one), then the league insurer and then finally through SU Sport's insurer. Each insurer will typically require written proof of your injury and any treatment received. Most insurers require that you get a referral from your treating doctor (or your GP) before seeing a specialist (eg. a physiotherapist).
