SUSport Membership Types

SU Sport Membership

Before joining SUSFC, you must join SU Sport. For convenience, you can join SU Sport and SUSFC simultaneously at our Registration events.

For each season you wish to play for our club, you must renew your membership with SU Sport. This will typically involve paying the annual SU Sport membership fee that corresponds to your SU Sport membership type.

Membership Types

SU Sport has the following membership types. Please study them carefully to determine your membership type. All memberships, apart from Life Membership, are annual memberships. That is, they last for the remainder of the calendar year.

Student Membership
Automatically given to Sydney University undergraduates on payment of University fees. Students who are proceeding to a postgraduate degree or diploma do not automatically become members but must pay a sports fee to Sydney Uni Sport to qualify.
Life Membership
Any graduate, diplomate, any member of the teaching or administrative staff of the University of Sydney may be admitted to Life Membership by the Management Committee upon payment of five annual subscriptions as the Committee shall determine. There is a small one-off fee for Life Membership, which includes a badge.
Annual Membership
This is available to graduates of other Universities, members of Sydney University staff and postgraduates of Sydney University.
Associate Membership
This is available to persons approved by the Sydney Uni Sport Management Committee and provides access to all Sydney Uni Sport clubs and facilities. This membership has no voting rights at Sydney Uni Sport meetings or elections.
Restricted Associate Membership
This entitles the member to membership of one constituent club and the use of only those sports facilities involved with organized training in that club. This membership has no voting rights at Sydney Uni Sport meetings or elections.
Junior Membership
This entitles the member between 10 and 17 years of age to membership of one constituent club and the use of only those sports facilities involved with organized training in that club. This membership has no voting rights Sydney Uni Sport meetings or elections.

Costs

On an annual basis, Junior Membership is very cheap (around $10). Restricted Associate Membership is around $90-$100, but has its limitations. Annual Membership and Associate Membership are around $140-$150 but have some additional benefits, including counting towards eligibility for Life Membership. Life Membership, once you qualify, has a one-off cost of around $10. After that it is free. Student Membership is effectively free as you pay when you enrol.

Tips

If you are no longer a Sydney University student, but not yet a life member, consider how long you are planning to play for our club. It may be worthwhile spending slightly more for one or two Annual Memberships to qualify for Life Membership, than paying a Restricted Associate membership every year.

For example, if you have completed three or four years of study, then have paid for three of four Annual Memberships as part of your student fees. So you only need to pay for two or one more Annual Memberships to qualify for Life Membership. Once you are a life member, you no longer have to pay SU Sport membership fees. So if you are considering playing for SUSFC for the next (say) five years, you should find two Annual Memberships cheaper than five Restricted Associate Memberships.
