Following in the tradition of the English FA, the Scottish FA, Soccer NSW, and seemingly every other football organisation in the world, the Eastern Suburbs Soccer Football Association have decided to start their own elite competition and to call it 'the Premier League'.

The ESSFA Premier League will kick-off in 2007 with Sydney Uni being accepted as one of the inaugural ten teams. This will form the second tier of men's football at the Club, below the Soccer NSW Winter Super League.

The competition will be played on Saturday afternoons (rather than ESSFA's usual Sunday) and will be structured as a First Grade and Reserve Grade competition. There will also be prize money at stake for the first grade league premiers and grand final champions.

The Sydney Uni squad will be coached by Michael Gaffney and managed by David Gutwenger. If anyone is interested in trying out for this new squad (including Uni players who played All Age in 2006), please contact David at david.gutwenger@gmail.com. He will let you know about trial details.
