Men's Super League Begins This Sunday

The SNSW Men's Winter Super League begins this weekend and sees Uni taking on Stanmore Hawks in the "Inner West Derby". The Under 20s kick-off at 4pm followed by First Grade at 6pm at the picturesque Arlington Oval on Constitution Rd in Dulwich Hill.

This will be the first big test for new First Grade coach, Glenn Lockhart, after a series of improving performances in the pre-season trials. While new Under 20s coach, Luke Gray, will look to continue the impressive run of the U20s over the last few seasons.

The first match of the season is always important, so with the late kick-off, it would be great to see some Blue and Gold in the crowd cheering for Uni.

Terry, I was with you, right up until you used picturesque and Arlington Oval in the same sentence.

1st Grade Preview

Sydney Uni travels to the "picturesque" Arlington Oval on Sunday, to face Super League Heavy Weights the Stanmore Hawks in Round 1 of the NSW Super League.

After some less than impressive pre-season form, Coach Glenn Lockhart will have the boys primed to start the season running and lay the foundations for a big year ahead.

Stanmore, who just missed out on the finals last year, will be led by Sam Awad - Super League Golden Boot in 2005, and will be keen to impress in front of their vocal home fans.

On the other side of the pitch, its a new look Sydney Uni team under the watchful eye of Lochkart. Traditional Stalwarts in Smithies, Felton, Nakayama and McDougal have moved on and in their place we have Gavaghan, Collins, Demetriou and Corte. Very much a youthful team with the addition of some 2 or 3 very experienced players, who will look to impose its high tempo, highly skillful game on its opposition.

A big game for both Clubs and one that is expected to go down to the wire.

The players and coaching staff would be very grateful to any member of the Uni Faithful who could get down and cheer us on. Plus the souvlaki is amazing!
